ADULT BASKETBALL LEAGUE RULES


Team Uniform Rules:

  • Uniforms must be of the same color

  • Every player’s jersey top must have a number associated

  • No two players on a team can have the same number

  • FOR EVERY PLAYER NOT IN UNIFORM, THE OPPOSING TEAM WILL BE AWARD 2 POINTS BEFORE TIP-OFF UP TO 10 POINTS

Game formats:

  • Round Robin format will determine playoff seeding. All teams will make the playoffs.

  • Men Divisions; Play with regulation size ball (29.5).

  • Women Divisions; Play with intermediate size ball (28.5)



Game rules: All NYS High School rules are in effect at all levels with the following exceptions:

  • All teams must provide a written/typed roster with valid first and last names by the first game of the season.

  • All players must check-in at scorers table with a valid ID before each game.

  • A team must have a minimum of 4 players to participate.

  • A player must play a minimum of 4 games for their team to qualify for playoffs.

  • No player is allowed to switch teams after week 1.

  • Tip-off time is start time. The clock will beginning running for each game at this time.

  • 20-Minute Running clock per half. Stop time is in effect in the last 2 minutes of each half unless one team is ahead of the other by 20 points or more, then the clock continues to run. If the point differential falls below 20 points, then the clock will stop again.

  • Game-clock DOES NOT STOP after a made basket unless a time-out is called.

  • Pre-game warm ups will be limited to 3 minutes, unless modified by league official.

  • Halftime will be limited to 2 minutes, unless modified by league official.

  • Each team is awarded 3 full time-outs per game.

  • A player receiving 6 fouls in a game will be disqualified for the remainder of the game.

  • 1 & 1 after 7 team fouls. Double bonus at 10 team fouls.

  • Over time period is 2 minutes with stop time.

  • Each team is awarded a 30 second time-out in the 1st overtime period.

  • 2nd over time period is sudden death

  • Any player or team receiving a technical foul, the opposing team will be awarded 2 points and possession of the ball.

  • Any player or coach receiving 2 technical fouls will be disqualified for the balance of that game and the next game. Any ejections afterwards are subject to suspension for the remainder of the season.

  • Any physical altercations of any kind will result in suspension from the game and the remainder of the season.

  • The 1st team listed in the game schedule will be the home team.



Referee Fees and Forfeit Fees

  • Each team will be required to pay $45 BEFORE each game.  If fees are not paid by scheduled tip-off time, that team will forfeit the game.

  • Referee fees are to be paid IN CASH ONLY by the team captain. CASHAPP/VENMO will NOT be accepted.

  • All forfeits will be a $45 fee and must be paid prior to their next scheduled game IN ADDITION to their referee fee.

  • Teams are encouraged to report to their assigned court a minimum of 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Teams that fail to report to their assigned court by the scheduled time shall forfeit the game.

  • There will be no makeup games.



Tie-breaker system:

When determining the seeding for the playoffs, the following tie-breaker system will be followed:

  1. Head-to-head record

  2. Score differential. (All forfeits will be given a differential of 15 points.)

  3. Total Points Scored.

  4. Final determination will be a coin toss.
