TOURNAMENT RULES

Game formats:

  • Round Robin format will determine championship game.
  • Purple, Silver, & Black Divisions – Two 14 minutes halves,
  • Gold & Platinum Divisions – Two 16 minutes halves
  • Purple & Silver Divisions – Play with 28.5” ball
  • Black, Gold, & Platinum Divisions – Play with regulation size ball

Game rules: All NYS High School rules are in effect at all levels with the following exceptions:

  • Running clock. Stop time is in effect in the last 2 minute of regulation play unless one team is ahead of the other by 20 points or more, then the clock continues to run. If the point differential falls below 20 points, then the clock will stop again.
  • Pre-game warm ups will be limited to 3 minutes, unless modified by tourney official.
  • Halftime will be limited to 3 minutes, unless modified by tourney official.
  • Each team is awarded 3 full time-outs per game.
  • A player receiving 5 fouls in a game will be disqualified for the remainder of the game.
  • 1 & 1 after 10 team fouls. No double bonus.
  • Over time period is 2 minutes with stop time.
  • Each team is awarded a 30 second time-out in the 1st overtime period.
  • 2nd over time period is sudden death.
  • Any player or team receiving a technical foul, the opposing team will be awarded 2 points and possession of the ball.
  • Any player or coach receiving 2 technical fouls will be disqualified for the balance of that game and tournament.
  • Home team is responsible for official score book. Visiting team to provide score clock keeper.
  • The 1st team listed in the game schedule will be the home team and shall wear a light color jersey. The guest team shall wear dark color jersey.
  • Games may start 15 minutes sooner than the scheduled start time, if the tournament is running ahead of schedule.
  • Teams are encouraged to report to their assigned court a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Teams that fail to report to their assigned court by the scheduled time shall forfeit the game. There will be no makeup games.


Tie-breaker system:  When determining seeding for the championship, the following tie-breaker system will be followed:

  • Head-to-head record
  • Score differential. (All forfeits will be given a differential of 15 points.)
  • Total Points Scored.
  • Final determination will be a coin toss.
